The company was established in 2016 by Mike Prentice who has over 45 years property experience and who has specialised in the retail development sector for over 35 years.
Mike Prentice Consultancy was established in 2016 when Mike left CBRE after 40 years’ service. Mike started his career at Healey & Baker (now Cushman&Wakefield) and after 3 years working for a development company joined Hillier Parker (now CBRE) in 1977. He co-founded the specialist Retail Development team in 1982. Mike is a former head of UK Retail at CBRE.
Department stores are a vital cornerstone of successful shopping centres in the UK. Mike also has significant experience in this field. He has negotiated lettings to all of the major department stores including Debenhams, House of Fraser, Marks & Spencer and John Lewis. He has also acted as adviser to department stores: he was Bentalls’ property adviser and acquired stores in Birmingham and Manchester for Selfridges. Mike also acted for John Lewis Partnership in their attempt to acquire their first overseas store in Dublin.
Mike has acted as an expert witness in a variety of cases which relate to development activity, CPO, planning appeals, public inquiries and dispute resolution.
